Top Online eBook Libraries

Recently, there has been many of you contacting us, asking if we knew any online ebook libraries or places we can recommend for anyone to download free ebooks. As a matter of fact there are numerous ebook library sites out there that offer online ebooks to download for free.

Rather than responding to all requests individually, we thought that it may be interesting to provide you with a list of reliable and credible online ebook library sites, to save you time. Most eBooks are free and some may require an “optional” donation. This is a short list for now, but we will be updating this page as we come across more ebook libraries, that are worth being part of this list. Enjoy!

Project Gutenberg e-book library

Project Gutenberg offers over 38,000 free ebooks on just about any categories you can imagine. You can choose from a variety of formats, so you can download or read them online. Formats available are: free epub books, free kindle books, etc. There is no fee or registration required to make use of Project Gutenberg, but if you find the project useful, and kindly wish to donate something, they will all but appreciate it and will allow them to buy and digitize more books. On a side note, and for first time visitors, nearly all free audio books available here on our site, have links that point to the ebook version of those titles. They will be clearly marked as “e-text”.

Internet Archive Library

The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library. Its purposes include offering permanent access for researchers, historians, scholars, people with disabilities, and the general public to historical collections that exist in digital format. Founded in 1996 and located in San Francisco, the Archive has been receiving data donations from Alexa Internet and others. In late 1999, the organization started to grow to include more well-rounded collections. Now the Internet Archive includes texts, audio, moving images, and more, on their ever growing collection, and provides specialized services for adaptive reading and information access for the blind and other persons with disabilities.

Sony ebook Library

Yes, you are seeing that right. Sony does have a great collection of free ebooks and unlike other sites, you can find newer titles and has hundreds to choose from. The only catch is that Sony’s ebooks require to be read with their e-reader, which you can download for free. Free titles are subject to change without notice, so if you see one that you like, you may want to hold on it right away. And yes, registration may be required.
